The Senedd, also known as the National (or Welsh) Assembly building, houses the debating chamber and three committee rooms for the National Assembly for Wales in CardiffThe building is 5308 square metres, is located in the former Cardiff Docks
 
The design criteria required sustainability, including a design life of 100 years.  The environmental features of the building have allowed energy savings of between 30% and 50% compared to buildings without these features.

Warner Bros. Studio, Watford

Warner Bros. Studio is an 80-hectare film and media studio complex in Hertfordshire and is one of only a few places in the United Kingdom where large scale film productions can be made. The studios contain approximately 50,000 m2 (538,196 sq ft) of flexible space which includes stage space, one of the largest filtered and heated stage-based water tanks in Europe, production office space, workshops and support buildings, along with an extensive 32-hectare (79-acre) backlot which offers a 180 degree uninterrupted horizon, favourable for exterior sets.

Following an over £110m refurbishment by Warner Bros. the studios are now one of the largest and most state-of-the-art secure filmmaking facilities in the world. It is also home to the dedicated Harry Potter Attraction which
 takes you behind the scenes of series of films and showcases a huge array of sets, costumes, props and details of the special effects and animatronics that made these films so hugely popular all over the world. Facilities include seated theatre, café and retail areas, and administration offices.

Sunseeker Yachts, Poole

Sunseeker, whose headquarters and main construction facility is on Poole waterfront acquired the site just over twelve months ago and has been using the existing facilities for a number of moulding and building projects.

The new shipyard development will include new moulding and construction units and offices to replace the existing facilities which are currently not large enough to accommodate the shipbuilding process. These new facilities will ensure the future success of the business locally and is another step towards creating a centre of marine excellence in the region. 

Sunseeker International currently employs 100 people at the Osprey Quay site but says this will increase to over 400 with the completion of the new development.

Liverpool Food Hub

A new £7 million “food hub” to house Liverpool’s fruit, vegetable and flower market regeneration project given the go ahead by Liverpool Council has been recently completed. 

The new 65,000 square feet market includes parking, a café and public toilets, replacing the existing rundown building off Edge Lane in Old Swan whcih was no longer fit for purpose.

It is part of the latest phase of a significant investment programme which has already seen a new Great Homer Street ‘Greatie’ market opening, while the revamped St Johns Market also recently re-opened following the completion of a £2.5 refurbishment.

College Trade Park, Leeds

The site of the former Thomas Danby College in Leeds has recently been turned into an 80,000 sq ft quality trade park development on Roundhay Road in the north of the city.

The £9m scheme, named College Trade Park, benefits greatly from its strategic location on one of Leeds’ main arterial routes with the area well-established for trade counter uses.

The new development has already attracted a range of businesses including Edmundson Electrical, Selco, Screwfix, Toolstation, Topps Tiles and Brewers Decorator Centres.

Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 is currently the world's largest airport terminal, with over 1,713,000 m2 (18,440,000 sq ft) of space. The partly underground Terminal 3 was built at a cost of US$4.5 billion, originally exclusively for Emirates and has a capacity of 43 million passengers.

The Space Studios project was part of a £14m investment package which we were excited to be involved with and would see the production hub double in size.

Firth Steels manufactured and supplied roof decking which was a combination of standing seam and membrane.  This included SR30+ (N1000WL reversed) in 0.7mm as the roof deck for the membrane.

The project has also become award winning, having recently received the accolade of RICS North West Regeneration Project of the Year 2018 as well as the overall Project of the Year 2018.

Capacity has been increased to 15,000 by adding six rows of seats to the upper tier on the east, north, and west sides. New media facilities, scoreboards including video, and commentary boxes were built to replace those currently in the upper tier. New wider seats were installed and new additional stairs and lifts were added.

Firth Steels were proud to supply the following materials, steel Beams, Columns, Channels, Angles, flat bars and steel plates for the manufacture of two large chemical plants in Trinidad and one in Muscat, Oman. These plants produce Methanol, Urea and Melamine.   

The total tonnage we supplied was about 3000 tonnes and we delivered this to the continent where it was fabricated and then our customer shipped it to The Oman and Trinidad.

Firth Steels supplied roof and wall cladding profiles for this Automotive Production facility based in the UK. Goosewing Grey Leathergrain plastisol was used on the roof and Ocean Blue plastisol was used on the walls along with internal white liner panel throughout.

Firth Steels stock and supply a full range of Spring Steel Flat bars and also some round bars and we ship these to major Leaf Spring repairers throughout the UK, Continental Europe and the rest of the world.  For export shipments overseas materials are normally shipped in 20 foot containers which hold about 22-24 tonnes of steel.
