Firth Steels are the leading UK manufacturers of composite metal floor decking. We manufacture three different types of composite metal floor decking - R51, TR60+ and TR80+ all of which have different purposes in the UK Construction industry.

They are used as an important structural element in the following buildings:

All three decks are supplied in thicknesses of 0.9mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm, with structural grades of either S350 or S450. All profiles are quality controlled under our Factory Production Control system, and are certified as conforming to BS EN 1090-1:2009 and BS EN 1090-2:2008.

Hot-dipped galvanised steel coil specifications used as the raw material are certified as conforming to EN 10346:2009 (Yield and Chemical & Mechanical Properties) and EN 10143:2006 (Tolerances on Shape and Dimension). All these mill test certificates, as well as Firth Steels’ own for the manufactured product, can be supplied with each floor decking product delivered.

Our unique bespoke project management and production software allows our main office to offer full project scheduling and manufacturing/ delivery visibility. This prioritises production according to the varying products and lines we offer, allowing full traceability at all stages of manufacture.

Full scheduling functionality allows us to upload material schedules from our clients, which are then added to the project ready for call-off. When ready for manufacture, the material schedules and pack details are downloaded to our state of the art roll-forming lines. Both these aspects reduce the need for human interaction and typing errors.

These 3 profiles are manufactured under licence for Structural Metal Decks, who can offer these materials as 'supply only' or 'fully fixed'. This strategic venture combined together has produced and installed an impressive array of structural steel projects both in the UK and overseas.

Composite Metal Flooring is the preferred solution for structural steelwork fabricators as it offers unrivalled spans, allowing for fewer beams needed for a building which results in less construction time and less weight of the overall building.

Structural Metal Decks’ (SMD) experienced team of steel workers, engineers, deckers and stud-welders are responsible for the successful installation millions of square metres of composite metal decking in building projects across the UK and overseas.

Their solid reputation for excellent quality products and end-to-end service delivery make SMD the preferred composite metal decking supplier for many leading building contractors and steelwork fabricators today.
R51+

The benefits of R51+
  • Available in 0.9mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm gauge
  • 101mm minimum slab depth, whilst still achieving 1 hour fire rating.
  • Wide flat trough provides flexibility for shear stud placement
  • Soffit ‘Wedge Nut’ fixings available with load capacity of up to 2kN
  • With minimal voids in the concrete section this allows dense slabs to be constructed providing good sound insulation
  • Fire Rating up to 4 hours
  • Acoustic Robust Solution – Refer ‘Robust Standard Details’
  • TAB-Deck™ fibre concrete solution now available

TR60+

The benefits of TR60+
  • 60mm deep trapezoidal profile
  • Reduced concrete volume
  • Enhanced speed of installation due to the 1.0m cover width
  • Trough stiffeners positioned to ensure central stud position, reducing amount of site checking required
  • The steel cross sectional area of this profile makes it the most economical option of the three available profiles
  • Soffit ‘Wedge Nut’ fi xings available with load capacity of up to 1kN
  • Acoustic Robust Solution – Refer ‘Robust Standard Details’
  • TAB-Deck™ fibre concrete solution now available

TR80+

The benefits of TR80+
  • 80mm deep trapezoidal profile
  • Reduced concrete volume when compared to other decks available on the market
  • 140mm slab depth required to achieve a typical 1 hour fire rating
  • Excellent un-propped span capability
  • Trough stiffeners positioned to ensure central stud position, minimising site checking required
  • Soffit ‘Wedge Nut’ fi xings available with load capacity of up to 1kN
  • Acoustic Robust Solution – Refer ‘Robust Standard Details’
